The Burmese Character
Burmese cats love human company. Being extra brainy, affectionate and demanding of attention. They do not like to be left alone all day, but two Burmese would keep each other company. So please, if you are going to be out to work all day, do not consider just one Burmese kitten, you will have a very sad little cat. They do get on very well with other breeds of cats and dogs. Very often I sell a kitten to people who have an older cat and within no time at all the Burmese kitten has won over the older cat. They demand to be loved!
Burmese do not have any road sense at all, so my advice would be to keep your cat indoors and provide it with lots of stimulation. Over the past six years of breeding Burmese cats many males kittens I have sold have been knocked down and killed by cars. There has only been one female from the kittens I have bred knocked down. I am not sure if this is just bad luck on the boys part or if they are just a little bit more silly when let out.
Burmese love to cuddle up on laps and seem very keen on being up high, particularly on shoulders. Be warned, you will feel guilty going out at night and leaving your cat on its own. Be prepared for lots of love and fun! Once you have been owned by a Burmese cat, no other cat will do.
Dont expect to get any work done on the computer!
